Wehrenberg Family Summer Series
Wehrenberg Theatres will once again host its popular Family Summer Series 2010 for parents looking for family entertainment while the kids are out of school.  Best of all, tickets to the movies are still FREE!  Family Summer Series features a different 2nd-run family film each week for ten weeks beginning Wednesday, June 2.  The series concludes Thursday, August 5

Showtimes are 10 AM every Wednesday and Thursday during the ten weeks of the series. The films will rotate through the circuit so weekly titles at individual theatres will differ.

Are We Alone? Searching For Life In The Universe

Professor Robert Mutel, Univ. of IA, will discuss the scientific foundations of this question as well as the technology behind current and planned searches for extraterrestrial life in the solar system and on extra-solar planets. The program will also briefly summarize the history of life's evolution on Earth, and the likelihood that such conditions may exist elsewhere in the universe, and what are the possible cultural consequences of detection. Monarch Migration and Tagging

Come and participate in tagging monarchs collected at this site. We will place an I.D. tag on the wings and then release the butterflies. Unlike most other insects in temperate climates, monarch butterflies cannot survive a long cold winter. Instead, they spend the winter in roosting spots in Mexican mountains; will one of these monarchs make it to Mexico? Also, learn more about these winter roosting sites.
Cost: $2.50/ adult, $1/child 16 and under or $5/family.

The History Center will highlight its collection of Alexander Lippisch artifacts. Lippisch worked for Collins Radio and developed many experimental aircrafts. Every Thursday morning from 10-11 AM in our upstairs gallery, we feature Pre-School Power Hour, free with museum admission.  The first and third Thursdays brings the Cedar Rapids Public Library's Story Hour our way.  The second Thursday, we welcome the Edgar Wibble Puppet Theater.  Other Thursdays, our education staff will entertain and inform the little ones with a hands-on program.

Throughout the school year, we will be closed on Mondays.  Regular hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from noon to 5 PM.  (The office will still be open, in case you're trying to reach us.)
